On Saturday 21st April, the Old Girls’ Guild of St Mary’s hosted a fabulous, fundraising ‘ladies’ luncheon. This was a wonderful opportunity for approximately 150 girl friends and Moms and Daughters to spend some quality time together.
The luncheon was catered by ‘Chef Extraordinaire’, Kari Sverre (a St Mary’s Old Girl) and each guest was given a goodie bag valued at R100 on arrival. There were also plenty of prizes and lucky draws for the ladies that ranged from Metal Art, to book vouchers, to a spa weekend at Indigo Fields.
Three presenters wowed the audience:
- Kari Sverre gave a very interesting Sushi demonstration
- Glynnis of Taloulah Trading demonstrated two simple, but very effective Table settings using all types of innovative ideas.
- Karen Short (St Mary’s Old Girl) of By Word of Mouth Catering in Gauteng, gave us an inside view on the latest trends for hosting functions. She has done functions for Thabi Mbeki’s wife, President Bush and other well-known dignitaries.
It was an outstanding afternoon, with top-class food, knowledgeable and entertaining speakers and scintillating company.
St Mary’s school acknowledges and thanks Lynn Mckenzie (Old Girls’ Chairwoman) and Pam Setzkorn for their invaluable efforts in putting together this wonderful luncheon. R11 000 was raised which will go towards school bursaries.
Keep your pen poised to diarise the Old Girls’ Guild ‘High Tea’ which is planned for October. More to follow …
