Grade 9 History Evening 2009

.

Winning team Grade 9H

The theme of the evening was ‘Human Rights and Human Wrongs’. Anne Frank, Idi Amin, Gandhi, the Suffragettes, famous and infamous kings and queens were just some of the characters that arrived at our grade nine history evening. Everyone had to choose a historical figure who has been an oppressor or a victim in our history, and we all had to come dressed up as that person. This might sound an easy task, but it took quite a while and some research before we could decide who to be. We all eventually found an interesting character from the past and I was amazed at how creative some people were!

The evening started off with a quiz, four representatives from each class had to answer questions. Of course the best class won… 9 H, my class! Everything was set out beautifully, thanks to Miss Bonser, and the questions were displayed on the data projector. I thoroughly enjoyed this evening because even though we had so much fun dressing up and viewing all our friends, we still learnt so much about different characters that some of us had never heard of before.

This was an occasion that none of us will forget. Thank you to all the history teachers, Miss Bonser, Ms du Rand and Mrs Dignon for organising it and for all the effort that was put into the evening. We all really had fun and appreciated it!
