| The Primary School Creativity
Centre represents a most exciting and innovative development on the St. Mary's campus.
It was designed to enhance the pupils' education through research and
creativity. |
The Creativity Centre, affectionately known as the C.C. by all, was opened
in March 2000. It is an attractive and inviting centre, filled with interesting murals, mosaics and colour combinations. It is a large 'futuristic' classroom, that combines spaciousness, an open plan structure and a
pupil-centred learning environment.
Education becomes exciting and meaningful, as the pupils become absorbed
in a holistic approach of integrated studies, co-operative learning and pupil-directed activities. |
The Creativity Centre contains a very large open foyer, which may be used for displaying pupils' work as well as for meetings, role play and other co-operative events. There is a small amphitheatre/audio visual area where teachers may introduce topics and explain tasks and where, upon completion, groups may give reports back. This area also houses a range of audio-visual equipment, including a computer which is linked to the network. Teachers and guest speakers are able to deliver
PowerPoint presentations and a variety of educational exercises in this area. |
An open-plan space is provided for science research and experiment, another for art and craft as well as a mezzanine level with a bank of computers and an additional workroom for the girls and teachers. Our industrious, energetic girls can often be found cooking up a storm in the bustling kitchenette. An outdoor area completes the centre. |
