In the Primary School, our philosophy as far as sport is concerned, is
centred on participation. We expose the girls to a wide variety of sporting activities giving them a solid foundation for their futures. We identify and develop skills and sportsmanship in every pupil with the help of qualified coaches and teachers. This goes hand in hand with our objective of educating the “whole child” and allowing each child to fulfill her own potential.
We offer an extensive extra-curriculum programme with a wide choice of activities. All girls are encouraged to participate in at least one sporting and one cultural activity per term.
Our sporting activities include swimming, diving, water-polo, tennis, hockey – both indoor and outdoor, netball, softball, soccer, badminton, athletics, cross country running, adventure club and squash.
Our cultural activities include chess, choir, orchestra, public speaking, computers, art and craft and an Einstein club. We also offer daily homework supervision and an extension programme called “Readers are Leaders”.
At St Mary’s we are very privileged to have the use of wonderful sporting facilities including an Astroturf, a Sports Hall with two squash courts, two swimming pools, tennis courts and various other fields. |
