Old Girls

The areas of Arts & Culture form an integral part of life in our Primary School. From the Foundation Phase up to Grade 7, girls are provided with exposure and experience in a broad spectrum of art and cultural practices including Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Craft and Design.

Using the art facility in our very own Creativity Centre, all girls regularly participate in a wide variety of creative exercises, using colour, design and an expansive selection of media and materials. The formal elements of art are taught throughout, exploring the works of famous artists. An Art Exhibition is held annually for the viewing pleasure of the wider school community. Our school also proudly displays the talent of our girls in numerous competitions and public displays.

We are fortunate enough to have Drama specialists who facilitate exploration of dramatic expression in many areas. Each girl is involved in a number of school productions and is encouraged to participate in the annual Speech and Drama Festival. The Creativity Centre is a constant hub of activity during exciting Theme Days. We regularly invite outside artists to expose our learners to an interesting assortment of dramatic art.

The Music Department boasts exciting theme-related music lessons, from Grade R to Grade 7, incorporating dance, movement and activities reinforcing musical concepts. A number of skilled music teachers facilitate the learning of violin and recorder from Grade 2, and a wide choice of musical instruments, including cello, clarinet, keyboard and drums, from Grade 4. We have outstanding Junior and Senior Choirs and instrumental groups which showcase their talent in numerous shows and concerts, including Rotary's annual "Music In The Hills" at Makaranga in May.
